Selection Pane

The Selection Pane is used to select which controller and which control on that controller you want to program. In operation, it looks something like this (depending on the controller that you have selected):

Basically, it's a graphic of the controller itself with inset graphics showing certain controls in more detail.

Device Tabs

At the top of the Selection Pane there is a row of "Device Tabs". The one at the far left is always present and is labeled "Program Settings". It will be discussed a bit later. Additionally, there will be a tab for each controller that you've added to the map.

Selecting a Controller

You select the controller you want to program by selecting its associated tab. The Selection Pane will change to show a graphic of the controller type selected.

Selecting a Control

Once the controller is selected, you have to select the particular control on that controller that you want to program. As you move the mouse over the picture of the controller, you'll see a small text box, the "Control Indicator", pop up as the mouse passes over the various controls as is shown for "Button 2" in the graphic. To select the control you want to program, left click the mouse while the Control Indicator for the desired control is visible. When you select a control, the title at the top of the Dialog Pane on the right will change to reflect your selection. There is also a small yellow cursor, similar to the mouse cursor, which points to the control on the graphic that you've just selected.

All Selector Pane graphics have a "Main View" near the center which shows the complete controller. In most cases, there will also be and one or more "Inset Views" that show other, smaller areas of the controller. The Control Manager uses the convention that the Main View is used to select an axis to be programmed while the Inset Views are used to select a button, hat, or POV switch.

Multifunction Controls

Some controls cannot be selected entirely using the Selector Pane because they combine multiple functions onto a single actuator and the different functions are not easily differentiated in the Selector Pane graphic. This applies primarily to the X/Y axes and to the hat and POV positions. In these cases, the selection you make actually selects the whole control, i.e. the "X/Y Axes" or "POV" or "Hat 1". To select which direction or axis on that control that you actually want to programs, a box at the upper right corner of the Dialog Pane will appear that allows you so select the axis or hat position that you actually want.

ClickSelect

There is another method for selecting the control that you want to program referred to as "ClickSelect". If the controller is currently operating, you can simply push the button or move the axis that you want to work with and the GUI will jump to the correct Controller and Control within your map.

This feature is not available with the Trackball Pro as it is normally seen as a mouse while the GUI is in operation and interferes with normal operation.

Program Settings Tabs

There is additionally a tab on the Selector Pane entitled "Program Settings". Selecting this tab doesn't select any particular controller. Rather, it brings up a list of settings in the Dialog Pane that affect the whole program. These include such things as Character Rate, Mouse Sensitivity, etc. See the section on Program Settings for a complete explanation of the functions available on this tab.

There is also check boxes here for setting ClickStart mode ON, for indicating that the Pro Throttle POV should be rotated 90 degrees, and for specifying the Command File to use if one is available.
